Area Sales Manager – Timber / Building Products

Our client is a leading timber processing and building materials supplier with a strong presence across the UK and Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Area Sales Manager to join a growing organisation operating within the construction and merchant sector.
The Role
This is a field-based sales position covering Northern England, responsible for managing and growing an established customer base while developing new business opportunities. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering on commercial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio of customers across the assigned territory
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within builders’ merchants and construction sector
- Build strong, long-term relationships with key accounts and buying groups
- Deliver and exceed sales targets and KPIs
- Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service
- Represent the company professionally in the market
Requirements
- Proven experience in field sales or territory sales
- Experience selling into builders’ merchants or construction sector (highly desirable)
- Strong account management and business development skills
- Ability to manage sales targets, forecasting and pipeline
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
