My Client are one of Irelands largest Infrastructure contractors. They are currently working on a number of Process, MEICA and Civil engineering projects. As a result they have a requirement for a Design Engineer to join their team in Charleville, Co. Cork. This is a full time, permanent positions with a range of benefits including pension, private medical & dental insurance.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Design Manager in delivering design projects throughout Ireland and the UK for both public and private clients.
  • Conduct preliminary and detailed electrical design for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Utilize appropriate software to provide solutions and ensure contract objectives are met.
  • Develop and implement design standards to enhance engineering efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, supply chain partners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Create cable schedules, block diagrams, and single line diagrams.
  • Plan and develop electrical layout drawings, including cable runs and ducts, using CAD software.
  • Contribute to functional design specifications.
  • Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) of motor control centers (MCC) and control panels.
  • Assist the Tendering Department in preparing tender submissions.
  • Write technical specifications and reports.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites as required.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation.
  • Proven experience in delivering technical designs.
  • Experience with electrical installations, MCC, SCADA, and PLCs in the water/wastewater industry a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with the design of site power distribution, cabling, pumps, direct online (DOL) and star-delta drives, variable speed drives, and motorized plant common in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Diligent and detail-oriented.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
