Elite Talent Hub are currently recruiting for a General Manager based in Fermoy.

General Manager is responsible for Managing the Truss business including Production, Design, Sales, Quality, Logistics and Safety.

Sales & Customer Service

  • Develops and maintains relationships with clients, ensures quality client service.
  • Ensures positive and robust communication channels are utilised with customers regarding their requirements, the preparation of quotations, scheduling production and delivery of their order, and keeping them updated of any potential changes.
  • Manages the Truss Sales Representative(s), and coordinates effectively with the Sales team across 
  • Liaising closely with the design office, operations and sales in other to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensuring the products are delivered to customers on-time.

Production & Efficiencies

  • Ensures that sufficient production capacity is in place to allow us offer a reasonable commercial offering to the market place (no longer than 6-8 weeks at times of peak demand)
  • Works closely with the production floor, to ensure that the plant is operating in an efficient, profitable manner and enabling a reasonable commercial offering to the market.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimal costs and operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Compiles, stores, retrieves, and analyzes production data.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Ensures truss plant is producing products within the agreed upon specifications and that continuous improvement plans are in place.
  • Ensure the delivery trucks are loaded efficiently, compliantly and ensure that the delivery routes are planned in an efficient manner.
  • Target and deliver continuous improvement initiatives that improves production and targets initiatives.
  • To co-ordinate, plan and lead plant any plant capital projects.

 

People Management

  • Responsible for the recruitment, management, development and engagement of all Truss plant employees.
  • Ensure compliance to standards for quality and quantity of work produced.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, to ensure a proactive and collaborative working environment.
  • Ensures adequate resourcing of the team to allow the business to deliver on its current commitments and take advantage of growth opportunities.
  • Understand how to perform every position in the plant efficiently and correctly.
  • Manages and participates in training of employees in proper work methods, processes, and procedures necessary to accomplish assigned job tasks.
  • Develops talent within the team, onboarding new employees, appraising performance, managing corrective action, acknowledging and rewarding contribution.
  • Resolves employee grievances or complaints in a timely, compassionate and effective manner, utilizing company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

Planning & Inventory Management

  • Reviews production orders and schedules to ascertain product data, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products as well as scheduled delivery dates, in order to plan department operations.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production timing and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Responsible for inventory management of raw materials and components, and the availability and readiness of all required equipment.

Safety & Quality

  • Directs the implementation of safe operating practices in compliance with Company and regulatory policies (HSA regulations, forklift operations, EH&S compliance, etc.).
  • Supports and contributes to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting potential liabilities.
  • Timely communicate any manufacturing issues or quality concerns to Group Management.

Business Growth & Profitability

  • Devises and drive a successful annual operating plan with clear objectives, strategies, quality standards, budgets, milestones and supporting initiatives.
  • Maintains confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records.
  • Management of P&L for all budgeting and forecasting, and management of costs.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To act courteously and communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, personnel within your role
  • To foster and develop good customer and public relations at all times and to portray a professional image of the company
  • To report for work in a timely manner and to conduct work as scheduled to company and customer satisfaction
  • To work within the instructions and procedures of the Companys systems as directed by your Manager or other management as appropriate.

Person Specification:

  • Minumum 5+ years-experience of successfully managing a production process in a commercial operation.
  • Experience within the Roof Truss or Timber Frame Manufacturing Sector would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A qualification in Engineering / Production Management or a related discipline would also be advantageous.
  • Significant understanding and practical experience in business and management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and engage a team of direct reports
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, and inventory processes/management.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Demonstrated success in creating accountability and to lead by example.
  • Strong team building, consensus building, decision-making, people management, and organizational skills.
