Our Client is looking to recruit Healthcare Assistants to work in a state of the art Nursing Home based in Tuam, Co Galway. Attractive salary to the successful candidates on offer. Part time OR Full-time options available.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality care to patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Help patients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and respiration rate.
- Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes or concerns to nursing or medical staff.
- Support patients with eating and drinking, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Assist in the maintenance of patient records and documentation, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
- Keep patient rooms and common areas clean and organized, following infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a compassionate and caring environment.
- Follow care plans and instructions from healthcare professionals to ensure consistent and effective patient care.
- Collaborate with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare team members to deliver holistic care to patients.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or equivalent; additional certifications (e.g., Certified Healthcare Assistant) are a plus.
- Proven experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably as a healthcare assistant or nursing aide.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and in challenging situations.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach towards patients.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Desired Attributes:
- Experience using medical equipment such as blood pressure monitors, and hoists.
- Training in first aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and protocols.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and patient confidentiality.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary dependant on experience. You will need your own transport as facility is outside the town of Tuam and not served with public transport
