Job Title: Manufacturing Electrical Engineer

Location: Limerick

Reports To: Engineering Manager

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Engineer to support the electrical systems and infrastructure within our paper manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and automation equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Job Responsibilities/Key accountabilities:

  • Design, install, and maintain electrical systems and components used in print production machinery and plant infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
  • Support and optimize automation systems, including PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Participate in capital projects and upgrades involving electrical and automation systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of electrical schematics, automation logic, maintenance records, and equipment manuals.
  • Assist in energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability efforts.
  • Log and record duties performed.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Good level of computer literacy.
  • Methodical and ability to priorities workload.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLC programming, and automation technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.


Competencies:

  • Experience with ABB, Siemens, or Keyence systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage and low-voltage systems and power distribution is desirable.
  • Mechanical experience or aptitude is desirable.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.

Working Environment

    • This is a fully onsite position based at our Limerick facility.
    • This role includes a level of on-call responsibility to support critical electrical systems outside of standard working hours.
