Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical firm, is seeking a seasoned Strategic Procurement Director to lead their procurement operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing the supply chain, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of goods and services. This role requires a results-oriented leader with extensive experience in procurement management within the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with the client’s business objectives.
Identify and mitigate procurement risks while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices.
Supplier Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure favorable agreements.
Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.
Cost Management:
Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Monitor and analyze procurement costs, implement cost-saving measures, and drive value engineering initiatives.
Ensure transparency and accountability in all procurement transactions.
Supply Chain Optimization:
Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to ensure a seamless and efficient supply chain.
Optimize inventory management to balance cost, quality, and availability of materials.
Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and enhance supply chain performance.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure procurement activities comply with regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and internal policies.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions.
Oversee audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs for team members.
Qualifications:
Third level qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPSM/CPM certification preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement management within the pharmaceutical industry.
Proven track record of developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings.
Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, procurement best practices, and industry standards.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
