My client, a well-established multidisciplinary construction consultancy based in Charleville, Co. Cork, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead growth across its range of professional services. This role offers the chance to shape business strategy, identify new market opportunities, and strengthen relationships with both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of commercial drive, sector knowledge, and a collaborative mindset to help expand the company’s reach and deliver sustained success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business growth by identifying and securing new opportunities within the construction consultancy sector, covering areas such as Architecture, Design and Assigned Certification, PSDP, Quantity Surveying, and Fire Engineering.

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to expand market presence and achieve revenue objectives.

  • Generate qualified leads through research, networking, and proactive outreach.

  • Prepare high-quality proposals and presentations tailored to client needs.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, negotiating effectively and ensuring repeat business.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including technical and tendering departments, to align business objectives and support bid submissions.

  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform strategic planning.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.

  • 3–7 years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within the construction or consultancy environment.

  • Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales targets.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.

  • Skilled in proposal and bid writing; APMP or similar certification is desirable.

  • Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data and identify opportunities.

  • Confident in using CRM and reporting tools to manage pipelines and performance.

  • Understanding of public sector procurement and familiarity with eTenders.

  • Knowledge of architectural services and multidisciplinary consultancy operations.

  • Motivated, strategic, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
