Our client is looking for an energetic and experienced Assistant Manager to help lead a busy, customer-focused café known for its premium coffee, fresh smoothies, açaí bowls, and other freshly prepared bites.

The successful candidate will play an active role in the day-to-day operations supporting the Café Manager in team supervision, food safety management, and maintaining exceptional customer service standards. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and enjoys working with fresh, quality food.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all daily café operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and excellent service.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate team members to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
  • Oversee food and beverage preparation, presentation, and quality control.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP).
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve any service or product issues professionally.
  • Support stock management, supplier coordination, and inventory control.
  • Manage cash handling, till balancing, and daily reporting tasks.
  • Contribute to rota planning and shift scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards across the café.
  • Support marketing and promotional activities to drive customer engagement and sales.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Previous supervisory or assistant management experience in a café, restaurant, or similar food service environment.
  • Knowledge of food handling and HACCP compliance essential.
  • Experience preparing and serving food items such as smoothies, açaí bowls, and sandwiches an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Comfortable with cash handling, POS systems, and basic reporting.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to lead by example.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and varied shifts as required.
