An established and growing engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support project delivery across Ireland. This role involves hands-on commissioning of electrical and MEICA systems within infrastructure projects, primarily in water and wastewater environments.

You will play a key role in ensuring that installations are energised, tested, validated, and fully operational in accordance with design intent and regulatory standards.

 

Candidate Profile:

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • Qualified Electrician (Electrical or Electrical & Instrumentation) with appropriate RECI or equivalent certification

  • Minimum five years’ experience post-apprenticeship

  • Strong background in commissioning and system start-up activities

  • Exposure to mechanical plant and rotating equipment (advantageous)

  • Experience within water or wastewater treatment facilities (beneficial)

  • Familiarity with MEICA systems including automation and control

  • Ability to engage directly with clients and secure commissioning approvals

  • Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification

  • Full, clean driving licence

 

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining strict adherence to HSE and environmental procedures on all sites

  • Assisting project teams in preparing commissioning plans, documentation, and test packs

  • Leading commissioning of electrical installations ranging from small works to major infrastructure packages

  • Installing and configuring instrumentation, pumps, drives (VSDs), and associated control systems

  • Interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and control documentation

  • Carrying out energisation procedures including MCC power-up, motor rotation verification, and I/O loop testing

  • Calibrating and scaling instrumentation (4–20mA loops) and configuring signals to PLC systems

  • Supervising subcontractors, vendors, and on-site personnel during commissioning activities

  • Collaborating with process engineers to optimise system performance

  • Completing FAT and SAT activities, including formal sign-off

  • Preparing pre-commissioning inspections, snag lists, and final certification documentation

  • Conducting fault-finding, troubleshooting, and system re-certification where required

  • Managing personal workload effectively and operating independently when necessary
