Our client is currently looking for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Telecoms & Fibre Networks) based in Dublin. They are a leading specialist in fibre-optic network design, installation, and maintenance, operating across Ireland, Europe, and the Middle East.
Role Overview
Our client are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Estimator / QS to support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for fibre-optic and telecom infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, commercial, and project management teams to ensure estimates are realistic, commercially sound, and aligned with client and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for fibre-optic, copper, and telecom infrastructure projects.
- Analyse project drawings, technical specifications, and scope documents to identify material, labour, and equipment requirements.
- Obtain accurate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to support pricing assessments.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and commercial staff to ensure estimates reflect project objectives, constraints, and timelines.
- Produce comprehensive estimate reports, bid documentation, and cost breakdowns for internal review and client submission.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving options while maintaining compliance, safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain and update a structured database of historical costs, unit rates, supplier pricing, and project benchmarks.
- Stay informed on telecoms installation standards, new materials, technologies, and industry best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a Telecoms Estimator, QS, or similar role within fibre-optic or telecommunications infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of fibre networks, ducts, cabling systems, civils interfaces, and telecom installation processes.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in estimating software, Excel/Google Sheets, and project planning tools.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is an advantage.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline (preferred).
Professional or industry-recognised certifications (e.g., RICS, CIHT, or equivalent) are an advantage.
