Our client is a well‑established mechanical engineering contractor that has been delivering complex engineering and construction projects across the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, food, commercial and retail sectors for decades. They invest heavily in training and education and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and governance. This role will be based on a prestigious, leading‑edge project in the Midlands
Role Overview
As the Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take the lead on all site‑based mechanical activities, working closely with the project team to deliver an innovative project safely, on time and within budget. You will manage site safety and quality, coordinate project scheduling, control costs (including labour, materials, plant and equipment), manage subcontractors and oversee day‑to‑day site operations.
Key Responsibilities

Assist and lead in the management of site safety in conjunction with the project and safety teams

Play a lead role in managing site quality assurance, working closely with the QA manager

Aid in managing the project schedule alongside the wider project team

Track and control all project costs (labour, materials, plant & equipment, variations and valuations)

Support oversight of day‑to‑day site operations and directly manage the project team to ensure disciplines are aligned with project goals

Coordinate subcontractor activities, tracking progress against schedules and manpower levels; ensure weekly meetings with subcontractors and package owners

Assist with snagging and punch list systems, ensuring supervisors return weekly lists to support QA/QC processes Report direct labour and subcontractor hours for cost tracking and security

Lead internal reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings and handovers

Support project close‑out activities including final accounts, O&M manuals, punch lists, safety files, QA files and relocation of materials and plant
Requirements

Strong knowledge of the full design and construction process

Full clean driving licence

Proven ability to manage people and programmes, coordinating multiple stakeholdersA trade background (mechanical) or a relevant third‑level qualification

Demonstrable experience coordinating and managing large projects and a minimum of five years as a construction manager
