Job Title: Retail Shop Supervisor
Location: Co. Limerick (Gas Station Convenience Store)
Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Retail Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations of our Spar convenience store inside a busy Irish gas station. You will lead a small team, ensure excellent customer service, manage stock, and maintain a clean, safe, and inviting store environment. This role combines leadership, sales drive, and hands-on involvement in day-to-day retail tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise frontline staff (customer assistants) to deliver high-quality service and meet sales targets.
- Oversee cash handling, POS operations, opening/closing procedures, and daily reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate stock replenishment, rotation, and shelf presentation; conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies.
- Maintain store cleanliness, signage, health and safety compliance, and food safety standards where applicable.
- Deliver excellent customer service, resolve issues promptly, and handle complaints professionally.
- Promote Spar promotions, loyalty programs, and upsell relevant products (hot drinks, snacks, fuel-related accessories).
- Monitor security, prevent loss, and implement standard operating procedures.
- Assist with staff training, performance feedback, and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
- Collaborate with the station management on promotions, maintenance, and pump area cleanliness as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous retail/supermarket or consumer service experience preferred.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic numeracy and cash handling accuracy; comfortable with POS systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings; shift patterns may include early mornings.
- Team leadership or supervisory experience an advantage.
- Knowledge of food safety and health & safety standards is desirable.
- A proactive, reliable, and friendly attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
