Nursing Role Job Specification
Qualifications:
- General Nurse registered with NMBI
- Peri Operative Qualification and/or Experience
Experience:
- Up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at a level relevant to number of years qualified.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of surgical procedures.
- Understanding of equality and diversity.
- Understanding of the NMBI Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (2021) as amended or updated and requirements of it for own practice and behaviour.
- Peri Operative nursing experience.
Patient Care Skills:
- Demonstrates effective, safe nursing practice in all basic registered nurse procedures in the theatre setting.
- Demonstrates the ability to work in the role of scrub, circulating and anaesthetic nurse.
- Be familiar with equipment and instrumentation relevant to speciality.
- Demonstrates an empathetic and caring approach to patients and ensure that patients’ dignity and respect is always maintained.
- Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate.
- Able to work under own initiative within the boundaries of role.
- Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
- Demonstrates awareness of research-based practice.
- Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Uses correct manual handling techniques to maintain patient comfort and assist rehabilitation.
- Demonstrates safe infection control practices.
