Financial Accountant (Part or Fully qualified)
HYBRID - commit to 1 day a week in the company office based in Portlaoise

About the Role
We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join a growing finance team within a dynamic commercial organisation. This role will play a key part in supporting financial reporting, business analysis, and financial governance across the organisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to provide accurate financial insights, support decision-making, and ensure strong financial controls across the business. The role offers excellent exposure to management reporting, business partnering, and financial analysis within an industry environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End
- Prepare monthly management accounts including variance analysis and commentary
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain accuracy of financial data
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements
Business Partnering
- Partner with department managers to review financial performance and improve cost control
- Analyse profitability, margins, and pricing across product or service lines
- Support investment appraisals and preparation of business cases
Financial Analysis
- Produce KPI reporting and performance dashboards for management
- Monitor working capital performance including cash flow, inventory, and receivables
- Provide ad-hoc financial modelling and analytical support for strategic decisions
Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and company policies
- Support continuous improvement of financial systems and processes
- Assist with internal and external audit processes
- Maintain high standards of governance and financial integrity within the organisation
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling
- Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience an advantage)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications & Experience
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a financial accounting or similar finance role
- Experience working within an industry (non-practice) environment is preferred
