CAD Technician

We are currently recruiting for a CAD Technician on behalf of our client, a well-established mechanical contractor based in Limerick with projects nationwide. Due to continued growth, they are looking to expand their engineering team.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a CAD Technician to join our in-house engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed fabrication drawings for structural steel components using industry-standard 3D modelling software. Your work will directly support high-profile projects for clients such as SISK and Eli Lilly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models of structural steel components using Autocad or  Tekla Structures or similar software.
• Interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings to produce shop and assembly drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and clarity.
• Generate material lists, bolt lists, and CNC data for fabrication.
• Ensure all detailing work complies with relevant building codes and industry standards.
• Assist in project scheduling and workflow planning related to detailing.
• Liaise with client design teams and attend coordination meetings as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 years' experience in steel detailing within a fabrication environment.
• Proficiency in Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, or similar 3D steel detailing software.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Desirable:

• Experience working on projects for pharma clients or Tier 1 contractors such as SISK.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and clash detection.
• Relevant qualification in Structural Engineering, Drafting, or similar discipline.
