Our client, are on the lookout for an EHS Manager who will oversee the EHS team, delegate tasks, and provide support, guidance, and coaching. This role requires a resilient individual capable of building relationships and positively influencing all levels of the organization. Responsibilities include identifying problems and offering improvement suggestions. The role will be working on a hybrid basis from their manufacturing facility in Kilarney.
Key duties include:
- Managing all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities, including installations and projects across various sites.
- Advising on company health and safety policies and assisting managers and supervisors with their implementation.
- Promoting a safety and environmental awareness culture through projects.
- Coordinating and developing the EHS team.
- Ensuring the company complies with all relevant EHS regulations.
- Driving continuous improvement in EHS performance and internal processes.
- Developing and implementing annual EHS improvement plans with departmental teams.
- Conducting internal audits and inspections to ensure ongoing system enhancement.
- Inspecting facilities for health and safety compliance and making recommendations.
- Organizing safety committee meetings and liaising with department safety representatives.
- Informing management about new legislation and safety practices.
- Collaborating with site management, safety representatives, and the workforce on EHS matters.
- Leading the Safety Committee and managing incident and accident investigations.
- Overseeing EHS documentation and maintaining the Integrated Management System.
- Coordinating with insurance providers and managing site inspections.
- Publishing safety instructions and assisting with safety-related disciplinary actions.
- Serving as the primary contact with EPA and LCC for IPPC licence compliance.
- Managing annual and periodic reporting to the EPA.
- Ensuring site emissions are monitored and reported as required.
- Reviewing and revising emergency response procedures and the company safety statement.
- Setting EHS objectives and targets and developing management programs for continuous improvement.
- Conducting annual management reviews for company directors.
- Providing training and coaching on key EHS topics.
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance overall EHS performance.
- Developing Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Site Inductions, and Safe Systems of Work for factory and site operations.
- Managing hazardous waste and ensuring compliance with LCC IPPC license requirements.
- Ensuring proper waste management and maintaining relevant documentation.
- Conducting occupational monitoring, such as gas, noise, and dust surveys.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent is advantageous.
- At least 6 years of experience as a Health & Safety Manager in a manufacturing setting.
- Progress towards achieving CMIOSH is beneficial.
- Thorough understanding of Irish and European EHS legislation.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, planning, organizational, teamwork, and presentation skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing behavioural safety programs.
- Ability to lead, take initiative, and be self-motivated.
