The company are now seeking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Fitter/Fabricator to join their skilled team in Limerick. This role will suit an experienced professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership ability, and the flexibility to work both in the workshop and on client sites.
Location: Limerick (Workshop & Nationwide Site Work)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday–Friday, day shifts (overtime available)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and carry out fabrication, welding, and manufacturing of mechanical components at the company’s Limerick facility.
- Supervise site installation teams on nationwide projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Undertake mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance works, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Ensure all works comply with health & safety standards, company policies, and client requirements.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior fitters, apprentices, and site operatives.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and site activities.
- Represent the company professionally when liaising with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in fabrication and installation processes.
Requirements
- Fully qualified Mechanical Fitter/Fabricator (apprenticeship ideally served with Solas or equivalent recognised body).
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in a senior or lead role.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead a fabrication and/or site installation team.
- Proficiency in welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and fabrication techniques.
- Experience in mechanical installations, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of health & safety practices, safe systems of work, and risk assessments.
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Full clean driver’s licence (essential).
- Flexibility to travel nationwide and work on client sites, including overnight stays.
- Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Solid communication and leadership skills.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in the water and wastewater treatment sector or utilities/industrial projects.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, pipework, and associated installations.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shifts.
39-hour working week.
