Job: Assistant Procurement Manager (head office, Cork)

What it is:

  • Support Head of Procurement in strategy, market insight, range, supply, inventory, cost and price optimization, performance, supplier relationships, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Focus on on-time, in-full material availability; optimize stock and margins; use data to drive decisions.
  • Use ERP (Intact) integration with WMS/Webshop; manage purchasing administration.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Help develop and implement procurement strategy aligned to goals.
  • Monitor market dynamics and opportunities; inform decisions.
  • Manage product ranges across departments; ensure competitive, innovative assortment.
  • Oversee internal procurement processes: forecasts, requisitions, stock transfers; manage capacity and lead times.
  • Optimize inventory to minimize stockouts/excess.
  • Negotiate terms, RFIs/RFPs, bids; drive cost/margin improvements.
  • Track performance (sales, cost, margin, service, stock); drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage supplier relationships; ensure availability, innovation, and lowest cost.
  • Engage with stakeholders to deliver customer-centric initiatives.
  • Administer purchasing processes; maintain ERP data accuracy and integration.

 

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Supply Chain, Economics, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant procurement experience; strong commercial acumen.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to translate data into insights.
  • Proven negotiation and supplier management experience.
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and presentation skills; stakeholder influence.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with purchasing platforms and ERP systems.
