Role Overview:

The Health & Safety Advisor will play a key role in supporting health, safety, environmental, and quality performance on multiple projects across the Leinster and Dublin areas. Reporting to the SHESQ Manager, you will be embedded within project teams to promote best practices and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and compliance of safety, environmental, and quality management systems aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
  • Lead and deliver project inductions for all new staff and contractors
  • Generate accurate monthly data and reporting metrics for internal review
  • Promote and facilitate behaviour-based safety programmes and initiatives
  • Conduct and record regular safety and environmental audits and inspections
  • Monitor legal and regulatory updates and ensure alignment with latest industry guidelines
  • Maintain up-to-date training and competency records for site personnel
  • Log and investigate incidents, non-conformances, and near-misses
  • Prepare and distribute incident reports and corrective action plans
  • Identify high-risk activities and collaborate with site teams to ensure appropriate controls are implemented
  • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and training sessions as required
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and project-specific SHESQ reviews
  • Review and assess subcontractor safety documentation and procedures

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in civil engineering or construction environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive, team-focused attitude
  • Capable of engaging effectively with workers, supervisors, and management
  • High attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-site project environment
  • Experience in behavioural safety programmes is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with safety procedures related to excavation, temporary works, lifting operations, traffic management, confined spaces, and working at height
  • Previous experience on utilities (gas/electricity) frameworks is an advantage
