Role Overview:

The Process Engineer will be responsible for leading the process engineering function across water and wastewater treatment projects, with a focus on public infrastructure for clients in Ireland and the UK. This role requires strong technical leadership, design oversight, and coordination within a multidisciplinary environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead process design activities for water and wastewater projects across the full lifecycle from concept through detailed design
  • Produce design reports, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with industry standards and client requirements
  • Collaborate with hydraulic engineers and design teams to ensure alignment of process and flow elements
  • Prepare tender and bid documentation, including process optioneering and technical proposals
  • Manage and mentor project engineers working on active bids and design schemes
  • Ensure coordination between civil, mechanical, electrical, and control engineering teams
  • Review and validate supplier information for technical compliance
  • Maintain process and safety compliance in accordance with quality, environmental, and H&S standards
  • Represent the team in meetings with clients and stakeholders and support business development initiatives
  • Help identify and develop future opportunities through client engagement and technical presentations

  • Support continuous improvement of internal systems, tools, and processes
  • Engage in team reviews, feedback sessions, and performance management practices
  • Stay informed of industry regulations, treatment technologies, and regulatory shifts affecting water infrastructure

 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Process, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering (or a closely related field)
  • Minimum 10 years of design experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment projects
  • In-depth understanding of treatment technologies and their practical application
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small technical teams and deliver high-quality process design packages
  • Strong experience using modelling and proprietary engineering software
  • Experience working with public utility clients (e.g., Irish Water, UK water authorities)
  • Ability to coordinate with internal disciplines and external suppliers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills
